Hands on science means active participation in class. It means hands on ideas, hands on equipment, and it means hands on learning !

Hooke's law states that an elastic band (or spring) will stretch proportionally to the mass (weight) applied.If different weights are hung on an elastic band, the amount of stretch (lenghth of the band) will vary. The heavier the weight the longer the stretch.The law only applies if the elastic limit is not exceeded. For an elastic band this is when the band does not return to its original shape, or when it breaks. The stretch is affected by temperature (try testing an elastic band that has been in a freezer for 12 hours) and pressure (try doing the experiments under water).
